YouNick Mint, a Polish venture capital fund, has offered up to 3 million PLN for innovative projects that solve real problems of the civil engineering, infrastructure, and construction industry. Together with Budimex, the leader on the Polish construction market, they set out to find the best solutions in areas of the design process, construction process, facility management, and operations.

Selected projects will receive from 1 up to 3 million PLN from the Bridge Alfa by YouNick Mint venture capital. Each of the winners will get support on all development stages, from business model conception to commercialization, and will have the opportunity to test their prototype within Budimex’s infrastructure. If the winning startup will require an office or storage space, they will be able to use the YouNick Technology Park in Złotniki (close to Poznań).

The application deadline is on 21st April (unless the limit of applications will have been reached earlier). Startups selected by organizers will be able to present their solution during Venture Days, on 26th and 27th April, in half-hour presentations. After each pitch, managers and experts from YouNick Mint and Budimex will ask them questions allowing them to understand the product better.

Budimex and YouNick Mint are looking for solutions in the following fields:

  • Design process: this field is focusing on eliminating mistakes in design, improving communication, and supporting lean construction management. Some of the desired solutions include visualizations of 3D data, systems of non-invasive quantity surveying, and automated change detection systems.
  • Construction process: the key problems are limiting the waste of resources and materials, increasing the safety on the building site, as well as supporting sustainable construction. Solutions should include prefabricates, materials with increased parameters, passive and intelligent buildings, as well as low-waste technologies.
  • Facility Management: this field focuses on methods that signalize the need of intervention in real-time, systems of property use planning, and systems for data management. Some of the solutions that YouNick Mint looks for are indoors navigation systems, data security measures, monitoring systems and sensors, and automation of maintenance processes.
  • Operations: this area includes the topics of maintenance costs, communication between people and machines, Internet of Things security, and City 2.0 development. Anticipated solutions include energy efficiency increase, advanced smart home platforms, intelligent energy systems and indoors navigation systems.
