If you were planning to spend this week on startup conferences, the choice is going to be extremely hard. During the next few days, both Sweden and Israel are hosting amazing events that you simply cannot miss.
Between 3rd and 5th September, the city of Stockholm will host the Sthlm Tech Fest. It’s one of the largest tech events across Europe that gathers over 5000 entrepreneurs, investors, developers, and journalists from 20 countries to share their experience and meet the Swedish startup ecosystem. The local startup scene is a good enough reason to visit this conference – Stockholm itself is the cradle of half of the European unicorns such as Skype, Spotify, Klarna or Minecraft.
The lineup of Sthlm Tech Fest is equally impressive – more than 50 speakers will share their insights with the attendees, touching upon topics ranging from games and VR to cybersecurity and blockchain. To top it off, the conference abounds in keynotes and panels that will inspire every startup founder. Jadwiga Emilewicz, the Undersecretary of State at the Poland’s Ministry of Economic Development, will represent Poland during a “Fireside chat w/Swedish Unicorns” discussion panel. She will be answering questions asked by the founders of Swedish unicorns, such as Sebastian Siemiątkowski from Klarna. This ambitious entrepreneur moved to Sweden from Poland and launched a fintech startup that has recently received a full banking license.
The “Polish delegation” at Sthml Tech Fest also includes two startups, BangProof and MedApp. BangProof won the startup4export competition held during impact’17 with their unique product – a shock resistant, energy absorbing cap that is flexible at rest but hardens upon impact. MedApp, a startup developing an analytical telemedicine system Carna Life for detection of abnormalities in ECG signals, will be presenting their solution as well.
At the other end of Europe, Israel invites to DLD Tel Aviv – an innovation and hi-tech festival that takes place from 4th to 7th September. The agenda is filled to the brim with side events, presentations from industry leaders such as Google, Facebook or Microsoft, as well as discussion panels on most disruptive technologies. The topics range from AI and cybersecurity, through investments and VC, to a whole panel dedicated to drones.
ImpactCEE is proud to co-host one of the accompanying events, Fintech-Aviv, where we will share our insights into the future of fintech in CEE. The meetup is also a great opportunity for fintech and insurtech startups to present their ideas in front of an enthusiastic audience.
