Since the launch of Chivas The Venture in 2014, this prestigious competition for startups with a mission has received applications from over 6000 entrepreneurs from all over the world. This year, Chivas Regal yet again invites social entrepreneurs to share their ideas that solve social or environmental challenges. The stakes are high – the winner takes his share of $1 million for development of his business.

Following the motto „Success tastes better shared,” Chivas The Venture helps to elevate business ideas are entrepreneurs who try to create a better world for everybody. Every applicant has an idea that solves the most pressing issues of the contemporary world, such as eradicating world hunger and poverty. The competition accepts startups at the seed stage that are still working on the prototype, as well as profitable businesses at the growth stage.

After applying, each participant’s idea is verified by a specialist jury. In December 2017, the very best startups from all participating countries will have the opportunity to pitch during national finals. A panel of experts will review each presentation and choose the most promising finalists, who will receive one-to-one pitch coaching and social business mentoring by experts from the Skoll Centre for Social Entrepreneurship, Oxford University.

After the coaching process, each startup will gather votes from the online audience, which will translate directly into financial support. The international finals will take place in spring 2018 and allow all national finalists to fight for their share of the $1 million funding.

Last year’s winner, Thailand’s Siam Organic, proposed a brand new variety of organic whole grain rice called the Jasberry rice. Their solution aims to end small-scale farmers’ poverty by empowering the farmers and giving them a healthy organic product to sell on global markets.
