Earlier this week, the Polish bank has received international recognition for the innovative solutions offered within its mobile app – PeoPay. EFMA & Accenture have acknowledged the bank’s innovative approach to connecting traditional banking with its digital counterpart, as well as the company’s journey towards bringing numerous updates to the service over the past few years. After competing with dozens of other banking applications from all parts of the globe, PeoPay was granted an award in the Phygital Distribution & Experience category.

PeoPay is a modern mobile banking application, created to meet the growing expectations of customers. This is why, for the first time in Poland, we have decided to implement biometrics for accepting transactions within our application. On the other hand, the growing number of clients traveling abroad have driven us to introduce a unique solution of convenient phone payments from currency accounts without additional currency conversions. – said Bartosz Zborowski, Director of Innovation and Payment at Bank Pekao S.A.

The bank’s turn towards a digital transformation is a somewhat new development, but after a year after their leap into the world of digitalization, it is safe to say that the hard work has paid off. Pekao’s clients have gained access to PeoPay in October of 2017, where they gained access to services such as Face ID, fingerprint authorization, conducting payments with contactless terminals without the use of a payment card, as well as an array of online payment functionalities, including ApplePay.

The new online banking, as well as its innovative capabilities was developed by looking through the eyes of our clients.
