Since 2015 she is the CEO of Empik Group, one of the leaders of digital transformation in Poland. For over 70 years Empik has been a leading lifestyle brand in Poland, with 300 Empik and Papiernik by Empik stores, and one of the 3 largest e-commerce platforms in Poland. Empik Group is also a leader in digital content distribution. It comprises, among others, EmpikGO, a subscription solution for e-books, audiobooks and podcasts, Virtualo, the biggest B2B distributor and producer of digital content, e-Muzyka, an independent distributor of digital music in Poland and Empik Music application. Prior to joining Empik Group, Ewa Szmidt-Belcarz was Global Partner at McKinsey&Company, a strategy consultancy, working for major companies in CEE, USA, UK, Italy and South Africa. As a leader of the Consumer Goods division she specialized in marketing strategies, go-to-market models, and transformations in the FMCG and Retail industries. Her previous professional experience includes local and global product and brand management roles at L'Oreal, Schwarzkopft&Henkel and Cadbury in Poland, Germany and the UK. Ewa Szmidt-Belcarz is a graduate of Warsaw School of Economics, London School of Economics and MBA studies at INSEAD.
