BIO

The only Polish Formula 1 driver, one of the most recognisable Poles in the sporting world. He became famous not only for his outstanding talent behind the wheel, but also for his steadfastness and fortitude when, despite the serious consequences of a rally accident, he returned to competitive sport and once again climbed to the top of the racing pinnacle, competing in Formula One.

His career proves that talent and hard work can combine to achieve seemingly impossible goals. Coming from a country with little racing tradition to the top was an achievement in itself. Along the way, Kubica blazed a trail, becoming the first Pole to achieve impressive success in karting and junior racing series.

In Formula 1, he quickly made a name for himself as a rising star while impressing experienced engineers with his maturity, understanding and grasp of the technical nuances that are so important in this sport. In just his third start on the podium, he took pole position in his second full season of racing, won the Canadian Grand Prix and moved into the lead of the world championship standings, eventually finishing fourth.

His promising career was interrupted by a crash at the wheel of a rally car, but after a long and painful rehabilitation Kubica returned to competitive racing. He became the first Pole to win the WRC2 world championship and went on to win special stages in the royal WRC category. Although his everyday life has changed forever and he has not regained full use of his right hand, he returned to Formula One and to this day remains a test and reserve driver for Alfa Romeo F1 Team ORLEN, providing the team with valuable experience. He competes successfully in other racing cycles – once again, he was the first Pole in history to stand on the podium in the DTM series, last year he won the European Le Mans Series championship and came within a whisker of winning the famous Le Mans 24 Hours marathon, and currently competes successfully in the World Endurance Championship.
