Polish track and road cyclist, Olympic vice-champion in Moscow and two-time World Championships medallist. The first Pole to become a professional cyclist. Nine times he competed in the Giro d'Italia, and three times in the Tour de France. In total, he won 30 professional races. After ending his sports career, the organizer of the biggest cyclical sporting event in Poland – Tour de Pologne UCI World Tour. He promotes professional and amateur cycling at many levels. He has won many sports and business awards. He has won more than a dozen awards of the "Przeglad Sportowy" Sports Poll, in 2019 he was awarded the Individual Business Award by the President of Poland. He has won as many as two awards from the United Nations.
