Bogumiła Kaniewska
BIO
She graduated in Polish philology from Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań. She obtained the title of professor on the basis of the monograph ‘Opowiedziane. On the prose of Wiesław Myśliwski’. Her research interests include 20th-century literature, translation theory and children’s literature. In 2012, she took up the position of dean of the Faculty of Polish and Classical Philology. In 2016, she was elected Vice-Chancellor for Student Affairs and has been Rector of the UAM since 2020. She supervised – as part of her participation in the EPICUR consortium – the preparation of the application that resulted in the granting of European University status to UAM. She initiated projects such as the psychological support programme for students, as well as the “Visible Hand of UAM” campaign. She takes an active part in the “When Science is a Woman” project.
She is also the President of the Conference of Rectors of Polish Universities.
