Sergei Medvedev is an Affiliate Professor at Charles University in Prague, specializing in political history and Russian studies. In the past thirty years, he has held multiple research positions and professorships in Germany, Italy and Finland, and in 2004-2020 he was Professor and Associate Dean at the Higher School of Economics in Moscow. His latest books include a prize-winning Return of the Russian Leviathan (Polity Press, 2020, translated into twelve languages), A War Made in Russia (Polity Press, 2023), and the forthcoming Politics of the Body in Putin’s Russia (CEU Press, 2024). He is also a public intellectual, a program host at Radio Liberty in Prague, and the author of prose.
