Marcin Gortat, born on February 17, 1984 in Łódź, is a Polish basketball player and founder of the MG13 Mierz Wysoko Foundation. From an early age, he developed his sports talents by training athletics and football at a sports school.

Then he focused on developing his basketball skills at the Łódź Sports Club, and his passion for this sport led him to the Bundesliga at the age of 18, where he represented the RheinEnergie Köln club. There he won the German Championship and won the national cup three times.

The decision of June 28, 2005, when Marcin Gortat applied for recruitment to the NBA league, turned out to be a breakthrough for his career. Selected in the second round with number 57, he went to the Orlando Magic, where he made his debut on March 1, 2008. During his long career, which officially ended on February 15, 2020, he represented four teams in NBA the best basketball league in the world: Orlando Magic, Phoenix Suns, Washington Wizards and Los Angeles Clippers.

His involvement in charity activities was reflected in the establishment of the MG13 Foundation, which aims to support young athletes in realizing their dreams. Annual basketball camps for children and the Great Match of the Gortat Team vs. the Polish Army have become the flagship events of the MG13 Foundation, the proceeds of which are donated to the foundation’s statutory purposes.

The former athlete is also the founder of a company that runs primary and secondary schools in 4 cities in Poland.

Marcin Gortat is also involved in promoting Poland internationally, including: by organizing Polish Heritage Night and supporting the Polish American community.

After finishing his sports career, Marcin Gortat found fulfillment as a businessman and philanthropist. The former basketball player is extremely socially involved, for years he has supported the Łódź Hospice for Children – Łupków, which offers support for terminally ill children.

Together with his wife, he also founded the MG Evolution company, which specializes in the production of cosmetics based on the latest trends in the industry.

In the fourth quarter of 2023, the factory started producing cosmetics. Production technology allows the factory to produce cosmetics in accordance with the most stringent global standards. The production of medical devices and medicines is planned to start in 2025.
