Sylwia Gregorczyk-Abram
Sylwia Gregorczyk-Abram, attorney at law, co-founder of the “Free Courts” citizens’ initiative,
Sylwia Gregorczyk-Abram – an advocate and human rights defender. She is involved in activities for the development of civil society, protection of the rule of law and systemic changes in the Polish justice system. She is also actively involved in the defense of women’s rights, supporting a number of NGOs in this regard. She is a co-founder of the Free Courts Foundation, which monitors and archives cases of the destruction of the tripartite division of power, the rule of law and civic education. Since 2006 she has been associated with the law firm Clifford Chance, Janicka, Namiotkiewicz, Krużewski and Partners, where she is responsible for pro bono practice and responsible business development.
She regularly participates in legislative processes in parliament as an expert and in the work of the Inter-Ministerial Team for the Restoration of the Rule of Law and Constitutional Order.
She represents national and sexual minorities and victims of violence before courts and tribunals. She appears before the Court of Justice of the European Union and the European Court of Human Rights in key proceedings concerning the independence of courts and the independence of judges and other systemic violations of human rights. She is the originator and implementer of the civic action “Constitutional Week” – an educational project carried out regularly in schools throughout Poland aimed at raising awareness of the Constitution and human rights among children and young people.
Winner of the “Golden Paragraph” in the category of best lawyer in Poland, Scholarship recipient of Yale University within the framework of The Maurice R. Greenberg World Fellows Program.
