BIO

Professor Wojciech Kulesza – a social psychologist. His research focuses on the phenomenon of mimicry, the imitation of gestures and speech mirroring in human behavior, discussed in his publication Efekt Kameleona. He also studies unrealistic optimism, the conviction that one is less vulnerable to danger than others, which he explored in Social Biases During COVID-19. Another area of his work involves medical fake news, examining susceptibility to false medical information, as analyzed in the book Psychologiczne konteksty szczepień. Badania i rekomendacje (Psychological Contexts of Vaccinations: Research and Recommendations).

His articles regularly appear in Polish and international journals. He is keen on the popularization of science through his articles in leading Polish weeklies, such as Polityka and Newsweek, and a national daily newspaper Gazeta Wyborcza. He often appears in media to comment on psychology-related topics.

Professor Kulesza was the Chair of an Interdisciplinary Advisory Board for the promotion of education, established by the Minister of Science and Higher Education. He received a scholarship from a Polish weekly magazine Polityka and was a research fellow at the Florida Atlantic University, in the United States (2012-2013). He is a member of the Program Council of Festiwal Nauki w Warszawie (Warsaw Science Festival), a cross-university event popularizing science among general public.

At SWPS University, he is a thesis advisor for students wishing to focus on topics concerning social psychology and psychology of love.
