BIO

A local government official for three decades. In 2005 he took the post of Marshal of the Wielkopolska Region, which he has held continuously for five terms. Since February 2011, he has been Vice President of the Board of the Union of Voivodeships of the Republic of Poland, and in January 2019 he was elected as a member of the Board of the Union. Since February 2006, Marshal Wozniak has been a member of the European Committee of the Regions in Brussels.

In April 2008, he took over as Chairman of the Polish delegation to the European Committee of the Regions, and was also elected Vice-Chairman and member of the Bureau of the European Committee of the Regions, a position he has held ever since. From 2010 to 2020 he was Vice-Chairman of the European People’s Party (EPP) Group in the European Committee of the Regions, and is currently a member of the Group’s Bureau.

Fascinated by regional history, an ambassador of the legendary organic work of Wielkopolska, he is enthusiastic about the opportunities for Poland and Wielkopolska to participate in the European Union. As the region’s host, he points with satisfaction to the steady, dynamic development of Wielkopolska, visible through high positions in statistics and rankings. Proud author of the slogan: Wielkopolska – European Region of Active People.

For his public activities he has been awarded, among others, the “Knight’s and Officer’s Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta” and the “Golden Cross of Merit” by the President of Poland.
