
Rafał Trzaskowski
Candidate for the office of President of the Republic of Poland in the 2025 elections.
Doctor of political science and university lecturer specialising in European affairs. In Ewa Kopacz’s government, Secretary of State in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for European Union Affairs and Plenipotentiary of the Prime Minister for European Council Affairs, working out Poland’s position at EU summits.
He served as Minister of Administration and Digitisation in Prime Minister Donald Tusk’s government. From 2009 to 2013, he was a Member of the European Parliament, where he dealt with issues related to the implementation of EU treaties, the EU budget, the European Digital Agenda and energy policy.
From 2004 to 2009, he was an advisor to the chairman of the European Parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee and to the Civic Platform delegation in the European Parliament. From 2000 to 2001, he worked as an advisor to the Secretary of the Committee for European Integration in the office of the Head of the Committee for European Integration.
D. in 2004 at the University of Warsaw, Institute of International Relations, Faculty of Journalism and Political Science. From 1991 to 1996, he studied concurrently at the Faculty of Journalism, Political Science and English Philology. He was awarded a scholarship from the European Union Institute for Security Studies in Paris in 2002 and from Oxford University in 1996. He has also studied in the United States (Cranbrook-Kingswood High School) and in Australia (Marcellin College in Sydney). He is a graduate of the College d’Europe in Natolin.
He speaks English, French, Spanish, Russian and Italian. His passions are jazz and books. He is the husband of Małgorzata and the father of Ola and Staś.
