BIO

Andrea E. Rizzoli was born in 1964 and has dual citizenship: Swiss and Italian. In 1989, he obtained an MSc in Electronic Engineering from Politecnico di Milano, Italy. In 1993, he was awarded a PhD in Control Engineering and Computer Science from Politecnico di Milano.

In 1991, he was a visiting researcher at IZEA, Université de Lausanne, Switzerland. From 1993 to 1994, he acted as a post-doc researcher at the Division of Water Resources, CSIRO Australia. During 1994-1996, he served as the contract researcher at Politecnico di Milano. Since 1996, he has been with IDSIA, which has been a joint USI/SUPSI institute since 2000.

He specializes in intelligent decision support systems, as well as the modeling and simulation of logistic systems and environmental resources.

Andrea Emilio Rizzoli has authored more than 200 publications. His h-index is 21 (Scopus) and 30 (Google Scholar). He served as iEMS President (2012-2106). Since 2017, he has been a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Leibniz-Zentrum für Agrarlandschaftsforschung (ZALF).
