BIO

A Swedish business leader with a deep commitment to fostering open and democratic societies. As a speaker at international events, he is profoundly appreciated a trailblazer in non-partisan political philanthropy, offering valuable insights into the challenges facing democracy and the business case for corporate engagement in rebuilding trust in democratic institutions. He can share concrete examples from his own initiatives and the impactful projects he has supported.

Daniel is the founder and CEO of P Capital Partners (PCP), a leading corporate lender and strategic financial partner for entrepreneurial and family-owned businesses across Northern Europe. With origins dating back to 2002, P Capital boasts one of the longest track records in European direct lending, using the same cycle-tested investment process to invest in more than 170 companies. Based in Stockholm with a team of 45, P Capital has raised circa €7 billion since inception. The firm specialises in providing bespoke financing solutions to mid-sized businesses who often encounter challenges in securing loans through traditional channels and may not wish to sell equity stakes to fuel growth. The flag ship corporate credit strategy is complemented by an infrastructure debt strategy with a focus on energy transition and a growth debt strategy that addresses funding needs of higher growth companies. P Capital has been offering sustainability-linked loans for the past decade and has a strong reputation for investing with purpose, which has gained traction with large institutional investors. Additionally, he serves on the board of Wallenberg Investments AB.

As a founder of multiple organizations dedicated to revitalizing democracy—such as the Daniel Sachs Foundation, the Apolitical Foundation, and the Multitudes Foundation—Sachs has been at the forefront of efforts to reimagine political systems and leadership.

Beyond his own initiatives, he holds the role of Vice Chair at the Open Society Foundations (OSF), the world’s largest private funder of organizations working for justice, democratic governance, and human rights, founded by George Soros. He is also a member of the Senior Advisory Panel at the Royal Institute of International Affairs at Chatham House and a founding member of the European Council on Foreign Relations (ECFR).
