BIO

Dr. Jana Puglierin is a senior policy fellow at the European Council on Foreign Relations and head of its Berlin office since January 2020. She also co-directs ECFR’s Re:order project, which seeks to understand the actors as well as the political and economic dynamics and trends that will have a decisive impact on the reordering of the world in the coming years and decades.

Previous positions included the German Council on Foreign Relations, the German Bundestag, and Bonn University. She is the deputy spokesperson of the Advisory Board of the Federal Academy for Security Policy (BAKS) and a member of the Advisory Board to the Federal Government for Civilian Crisis Prevention and Peacebuilding.

Her work focuses on German and European foreign, security, and defence policy, as well as Germany’s role in Europe and transatlantic relations. Puglierin has published widely in outlets and journals such as Die Zeit, Tagesspiegel, NZZ, War on the Rocks, Internationale Politik, and regularly appears as commentator in the media.

She writes a monthly column on geoeconomics and geopolitics in the German newspaper Handelsblatt.
