BIO

Martin Bialecki has been editor-in-chief of the journal Internationale Politik and the online magazine Internationale Politik Quarterly since September 2018.

Until the summer of 2018, Bialecki worked in Washington DC as bureau chief and correspondent for the German Press Agency (dpa). He was a member of the White House Correspondents’ Association and the German Executive Roundtable. As a guest speaker, he took part in panels at Harvard Law School and lectured at George Washington University on topics including media and election campaigns. As a journalist, he covered Barack Obama’s last year as president as well as the election campaign and the first two years of Donald Trump’s presidency.

From 2011 to 2015, Martin Bialecki was head of politics at dpa and was responsible for the agency’s domestic and foreign policy reporting as well as the team of dpa federal correspondents. From 2009 to 2010, Bialecki was Managing Director of the public affairs agency PLATO Kommunikation, a subsidiary of Scholz&Friends. In previous positions at dpa, Bialecki headed the Politics and Miscellaneous departments. He has worked in Munich, Hamburg and Brussels and has covered more than three dozen international summits. His areas of expertise are US foreign and domestic policy, transatlantic relations, media/phenomena of disinformation and populism.
