
Leszek Miller
Polish politician, political scientist, left-wing activist, former prime minister of Poland, long-time leader of the Democratic Left Alliance (SLD). During his tenure as prime minister, Poland joined the European Union.
Before entering politics, he began his career in the textile industry. Miller was a member of the Polish United Workers’ Party (PZPR). After the fall of communism, he became a leading figure in the Social Democracy of the Republic of Poland (SDRP) and later the Democratic Left Alliance (SLD).
Prime Minister from 2001 to 2004. Member of Parliament from 1991 to 2005 and 2011 to 2015, Member of the European Parliament from 2019 to 2024.
From 1993 to 1996 he served as Minister of Labor and Social Policy, in 1996 as Minister-Chief of the Office of the Council of Ministers and in 1997 as Minister of Internal Affairs and Administration.
