BIO

Senator of the 11th term. Member of the Sejm of the 10th, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th terms.

Twice held the office of Prime Minister (1992 and 1993-1995). From 2007 to 2012 he was deputy prime minister and minister of economy. From 2010 to 2012 he served on the National Security Council. In 2011, he led the Polish Presidency of the European Union on the Energy, Trade and Competitiveness Councils. Since 1992, he has served as President of the Board of Directors of the Union of Voluntary Fire Brigades.

He has been decorated with, among others: Grand Commander’s Cross of the Order “For Merit to Lithuania,” Order of St. Charles, Norwegian Grand Cross of the Order of Merit, Portuguese Grand Cross of the Order of Merit.

He is currently chairman of the Senate Committee on National Economy and Innovation.
