BIO

Borys Szyc – award-winning film and theater actor, since 2022 film producer and co-owner of the production company Boma Films.

In 2001 he graduated from the Acting Department of the Aleksander Zelwerowicz Theater Academy in Warsaw. That same year, with the title role in “Platonov” (directed by Agnieszka Glinska), for which he received an award at the 19th Festival of Theater Schools in Lodz, he got a contract at Warsaw’s Contemporary Theater. On the stage of the Contemporary, he played in such plays as: “Bambini di Praga,” ‘Hamlet,’ ‘The Dog’s Heart,’ and ”The Trial According to Kafka.” He is currently associated with the 6th Floor Theater (“Art”) and the Polonia Theater (“Sunshine Line”).

In 2003 he played Albert in Konrad Niewolski’s “Symmetry.” Shortly after, he played one of the leading roles in Juliusz Machulski’s “Vinci.” To his credit, he has roles in dozens of excellent and diverse productions, including: “Testosterone” (2007), ‘Wojna polsko-ruska’ (2009), ‘The Mole’ (2010), ‘Serce, serduszko’ (2014), ‘Pokot’ (2017), ‘Sztuka Kochania’ (2017), Cold War (2018), ‘Kamerdyner’ (2018), ‘Piłsudski’ (2019 – title role), ‘Magnesia’ (2020), ‘Bo w mnie jest seks’ (2021), ‘Kryptonim Polska’ (2022). In 2023 he starred with his daughter Sonia Szyc, who is making her screen debut, in the film “You were not meant to be”. Also awaiting its premiere is the film “Kantor,” in which the actor played the legendary artist Tadeusz Kantor.

Borys Szyc’s credits also include numerous roles in feature series, including: an extraordinary performance as gangster-polygote Janusz Radziwiłk in the series “The King” (Canal+), the lead role in the series “Forst” based on the novel by Remigiusz Mroz (Netflix, premiere 2024). He also starred in international productions: “Into the Night” (Netflix) and ‘Fury 2’ (Viaplay, premiere 2023).

He has received numerous award nominations for his acting achievements. Among those won were: Golden Lions for his leading male role in Wojna polsko-ruska (The Polish-Russian War), or the WFF Montreal award for his leading male role in The Mole.
