Michał Braun

Director of the National Freedom Institute – Centre for Civil Society Development
Expert and practitioner in the field of public participation and the Third Sector with fifteen years of experience working in NGOs. He has managed many NGOs in Poland, worked as an expert for, among others, the European Commission and the Foundation for the Development of the Education System evaluating Erasmus+ and AMIF applications, as well as in NGO and social economy incubators. As a project coordinator, trainer and consultant, he worked in Erasmus+ educational projects in many countries in Europe, Asia, Africa and South America.
For years he was associated with the Volunteer Center in Kielce, which he managed from 2010 to 2015. He was involved in work with young people, projects for local democracy and nationwide youth policy, including the EU Youth Dialogue by chairing the National Working Group. Former member of the Monitoring Committee of the ROP of the Swietokrzyskie Voivodeship. Vice-chairman of the Board of the Polish Council of Youth Organizations from 2011 to 2014, and member of the Board of the OFOP in 2015. He also gained experience working as a volunteer in, among others: an elementary school in India, a prison and universities in Bolivia, and equality organizations in the USA.
Graduate of European Studies at the University of Warsaw, the Academy of Third Sector Managers of Collegium Civitas, 26 School of Political Leaders and the Batory Foundation’s Local Government Workshop. Participant in the Young Elected Politicians program of the European Committee of the Regions. He completed a six-month scholarship at Denmark’s Hadsten People’s University and an Erasmus scholarship at Charles University in Prague. He speaks English and Spanish. From 2019 to 2024, a councilor of the City of Kielce. Member of the Council for Public Benefit Activities.
