Politician, local government official and sociologist, member of the Sejm for the 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th terms (2007-2024), member of the European Parliament for the 10th term (from 2024).

He graduated in sociology from the Faculty of Applied Social Sciences and Social Reintegration at Warsaw University. He is also a graduate of the European Study of Local Government Investment Financing at the Warsaw School of Economics.

From 2000 to 2007 he was a councilman, from 2006 to 2007 he was chairman of the Wola district council in Warsaw. In the 2007 parliamentary elections, he was elected as an MP from the Civic Platform list. In the Sejm of the eighth term, he became deputy chairman of the Senior Policy Commission and a member of the Justice and Human Rights Commission.

In January 2022 he was elected co-chairman of the Ukraine-NATO inter-parliamentary committee functioning within the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, and in 2023 he was elected chairman of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly.

In the Tenth Sejm, he became chairman of the Investigative Committee on the Visa Scandal, deputy chairman of the Senior Policy Committee and a member of the Justice and Human Rights Committee, as well as a member of the Committee on State Control.

In the 2024 elections, he was elected to the European Parliament for the 10th term. He sat on the Committee on Foreign Affairs.
