Maja Ostaszewska

BIO
Outstanding film and theater actress. She graduated from the Cracow Theater Academy. Known for films such as Andrzej Wajda’s Oscar-nominated “Katyn,” Malgorzata Szumowska and Michal Englert’s “Body/Body,” a film that won the Silver Bear at the Berlinale Film Festival and the European Film Academy’s People’s Choice award, as well as the Golden Lions in Gdynia. She also played in “Snow will never be again” “Jack Strong” ‘7 Feelings’ ‘Magnesia’, ‘Strangers’ ‘The In-laws’, ”Colors of Evil. Red”, ‘Green Border’ by Agnieszka Holland, awarded the Special Jury Prize at the Venice Film Festival and the Golden Lions in Gdynia.
Two-time winner of the award for best leading actress at the FPFF in Gdynia. In the same category, two-time winner of the Eagle Award of the Polish Film Academy (7 nominations) Awarded with the Passport of Polityka, Onet’s Enlightenment in both film and theater categories.
Winner of numerous theater awards, including the Zelwerowicz Award for her role as Harper Pitt in Angels in America. She is affiliated with Krzysztof Warlikowski’s New Theater in Warsaw. Previously with TR, the National Theater in Warsaw, the Dramatic Theater, and the National Old Theater in Krakow. In addition to Krzysztof Warlikowski, she has worked with Krystian Lupa, Grzegorz Jarzyna, Jerzy Grzegorzewski, Katarzyna Kalwat, Michał Borczuch, Krystyna Janda, among others.
For years she has been socially and charitably involved in human rights, including humanitarian aid, animal rights, a feminist.
