Daniel Konkel

BIO
Graduate of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the Technological University of Gdansk. He completed postgraduate studies in Welding (holds an IWE diploma) and Nuclear Power Fundamentals.
After graduation in 1987, he worked in the Department of Mechanical Materials and Welding of PG and was involved in the process of construction of the Nuclear Power Plant in Zarnowiec in the field of designing the technology of welding of reinforcement structures and tight lining of the main reactor building.
In 1993, he joined the Office of Technical Inspection at the Gdansk branch, where he went through all levels of his career, starting from technical advisor to the director of the branch at present. He supervised the production process of pressure equipment, industrial installations and equipment inspections during the modernization and expansion of plants in the refining and petrochemical industries, including the 10+ Program and EFRA at the Gdansk Refinery.
Acting as part of the Center for Technical Safety in 2002-2006, he conducted a number of training courses for Polish entrepreneurs manufacturing and operating pressure equipment, aimed at preparing these entities to operate in the new conditions that followed Poland’s accession to the European Union. He was Poland’s representative in the Pressure Working Group of the EC.
He was the initiator of the implementation in the process industry of a new approach to equipment inspection planning based on risk analysis, the so-called Risk Based Inspection (RBI) methodology. This method is currently used at two Polish refineries.
