Jacek Jastrzębski is one of Poland’s leading specialists in the field of law and the financial sector. He has a background in law as a graduate and professor of the Faculty of Law and Administration at the University of Warsaw, and in economics as a graduate of the Warsaw School of Economics. He also completed the prestigious Legal Professional LL.M. program at the University of California, Berkeley in the United States.

Jacek Jastrzebski combined work in the banking sector with academic and scientific activities. For more than a decade, he served as deputy director of the Legal Department of Powszechna Kasa Oszczędności Bank Polski. He is employed as a university professor in the Department of Civil Law at the UW Faculty of Law and Administration. In 2017, he was included in the “Legal 500’s GC Powerlist: Central and Eastern Europe,” a list of outstanding lawyers in Central and Eastern Europe.

In his scholarly activity, he deals with civil law, commercial law and financial market law, and is the author or co-author of more than 80 scientific publications. His doctoral dissertation and habilitation thesis were awarded in competitions of the monthly magazine “State and Law”. He has been a participant, also as a speaker or moderator, in a number of national or international conferences, including on financial market issues.

Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki appointed Dr. Jacek Jastrzębski, Prof. UW, as Chairman of the Financial Supervisory Commission for another term, effective November 24, 2023.
