He is currently a host of BBC Radio 4’s popular history of ideas programme “In Our Time”.

A highly acclaimed journalist and author, Misha is a sought-after keynote speaker on geopolitics, cybersecurity, and organized crime. He began his career reporting on the fall of communism in Eastern Europe and the wars in the Balkans, earning international recognition for his coverage. His bestselling non-fiction book, “McMafia,” which delves into the globalization of organized crime, has been adapted into a major television series on BBC1 and AMC.

Misha is also the author of a widely praised single-volume history of contemporary Balkans. His work explores the hidden networks of global crime and the profound impact of technology on security and society. A graduate of the Woodrow Wilson Center and the Berggruen Institute, he has served as a visiting professor at LSE, Columbia University, and University College London. Misha is currently Rector of the Institute for Human Sciences in Vienna.
