BIO

Set designer, designer, and manager, graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Bratislava and Groningen.

Since 1995, he has been associated with the Grand Theatre – National Opera as a collaborator of Andrzej Kreutz Majewski, and since 1999 he has created performances with Mariusz Treliński (including Madame Butterfly, King Roger, La Traviata, Turandot, Tristan and Isolde, Halka).

He has worked for the world’s most important opera houses and festivals, including the Metropolitan Opera in New York, the Royal Opera House in London, the Staatsoper Berlin, the San Francisco Opera, and the Festspielhaus Baden-Baden. He has collaborated with many outstanding directors (Keith Warner and Amon Miyamoto). He has also designed Expo pavilions (Hanover 2000, Shanghai 2010), exhibitions for the National Museum in Warsaw, the Venice Biennale, and interiors for the Hotel Europejski and the Belvedere restaurant, among others. Running the studio Boris Kudlička with
Partners, he has carried out architectural and interior design projects in Poland and abroad.

He is the winner of many awards, including the Gloria Artis Gold Medal (2025) and two Gold Medals at the Prague Quadrennial. He holds a PhD in Fine Arts (Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, 2014), is a lecturer and curator, and is considered one of the most outstanding set designers in contemporary opera.
