Danylo Lubkivsky

Danylo Lubkivsky is a Ukrainian diplomat, public intellectual, and civil activist. He serves as the Director of the Kyiv Security Forum – Ukraine’s leading platform for high-level discussion on national, regional, and global security.
From January 2015 to April 2016, he was the Diplomatic Adviser to the Prime Minister of Ukraine. In 2014, Mr. Lubkivsky served as the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, responsible for political analysis and planning, strategic communication, and humanitarian cooperation. During 2014–2015, he also chaired the National Commission of Ukraine for UNESCO.
Earlier in his career, he served as Adviser to the President of Ukraine (2006–2010) and to the Minister for Foreign Affairs (2004–2006). From 2001 to 2004, he was posted to the Permanent Mission of Ukraine to the United Nations, where he was a member of Ukraine’s delegation to the UN Security Council in 2001.
Mr. Lubkivsky was one of the authors of the historic 2004 declaration of Ukrainian diplomats in support of the Orange Revolution and an active participant in the Revolution of Dignity in 2013–2014. He is also the initiator of the idea to establish the Ukrainian Institute – a national institution representing Ukrainian culture and public diplomacy abroad.
He is the author of numerous publications and essays on international relations, diplomacy, and global security. Mr. Lubkivsky graduated from the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, Faculty of International Relations.
