Tomasz Sedlacek gained international recognition thanks to his award-winning bestseller “The Economics of Good and Evil: The Search for Economic Meaning from Gilgamesh to Wall Street.” The book has been translated into twenty-one languages. He is a Czech economist and university lecturer recognized as one of the “Young Guns” and one of the “five hot minds in economics” by the Yale Economic Review.

He currently serves as the Director of the Knihovna Václava Havla (the Václav Havel Library). He was appointed to this role in March 2025, taking over leadership of the library which preserves and promotes the legacy of former Czech President Václav Havel. He is also a member of the Narrative of Europe group commissioned by Manuel Barroso and a member of the World Economic Forum Council focusing on New Economic Thinking.

At the age of only 24, was an economic advisor to former President Vaclav Havel. He later became a member of the National Economic Council, an advisory body to the Czech Prime Minister. On top of that he used to be the Chief Macroeconomic Strategist at the Czech national bank CSOB.

In addition to lecturing at Charles University in the Czech Republic, Tomas Sedlacek also works as a columnist for a leading Czech newspaper.
