BIO

A local government official for three decades. In 2005, he assumed the role of Marshal of the Wielkopolska Voivodeship, a position he has held uninterrupted for five terms. Since February 2011, he has been the Vice President of the Board of the Association of Polish Voivodeships, and in January 2019, he was elected as a member of the Board. Since February 2006, Marshal Woźniak has been a member of the European Committee of the Regions in Brussels.

In April 2008, he took the position of Chairman of the Polish delegation to the European Committee of the Regions and was also elected as Vice-Chairman and a member of the Presidium of the European Committee of the Regions, roles he still holds to this day. From 2010 to 2020, he was the Vice-Chairman of the European People’s Party (EPP) Group in the European Committee of the Regions, and he is currently a member of the Presidium of the Group.

Fascinated by regional history and an ambassador of the legendary organic work of Wielkopolska, he is enthusiastic about the opportunities that membership in the European Union offers to Poland and Wielkopolska. As the host of the region, he proudly points to the steady, dynamic development of Wielkopolska, evident through its high positions in statistics and rankings. As the initiator of the Wielkopolska Hydrogen Valley, he emphasizes that Wielkopolska aims to be at the forefront of the European Green Deal.

For his public service, he has been awarded by the President of the Republic of Poland with the “Knight’s and Officer’s Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta” and the “Gold Cross of Merit.”
