BIO

Over the past 15 years, Nicolas Henchoz and his team at the EPFL+ECAL Lab (EPFL Design Research Center in Switzerland) have been researching how to meet current challenges related to new technologies by studying human perception. Through implemented examples from the luxury industry, well-being, medicine, sustainable development, and cultural heritage, he will present a breakthrough approach that combines academic research, artistic creativity, and effective transfer.

Nicolas Henchoz is the director of the EPFL Design Research Center (EPFL+ECAL Lab), author of the book “Design for Innovative Technology: from disruption to acceptance,” and Global Diplomat Chair of SIGGRAPH 2024, the world’s largest conference dedicated to computer graphics and interactive techniques. Under his leadership, this conference will expand its scope, bringing together nations and addressing key issues for humanity: peace, environment, and health.

Nicolas Henchoz is the author of numerous academic publications on design research, curator of over 30 exhibitions in places such as the Royal College of Art in London, The American Institute of Architecture in New York, The Laboratory at Harvard University, and the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris. He was appointed Chevalier des arts et des lettres by the French Minister of Culture and Communication.
