BIO

Maja Ganszyniec is a designer with a comprehensive approach to the design process. Born in Poland, she studied interior architecture in Krakow and Milan before graduating in design product at the Royal College of Art in London in 2008.

“Do No Harm” is her main professional principle. In 2013, she established her own studio, focusing on human-oriented and nature-friendly objects.

The designer always looks for opportunities to implement sustainable solutions, be it in details or in a holistic production approach. She often chooses traditional craft to underline the value of natural materials used in furniture. Maja promotes the circular production model to increase the use of recycled materials, as natural resources are scarce and must be used wisely.

Her collaborations range from huge companies with world-changing capabilities to small family businesses that can create a piece of a whole new world from scratch. For the last decade, she has collaborated with brands like IKEA, DUKA, Comforty, Mute, or NOTI. In 2017, the Polish Institute of Industrial Design awarded her with the Designer of the Year title.

In 2020, she was appointed as a Creative Director of PROFIm, a leading office furniture manufacturer in Poland and one of the brands of the Scandinavian Flokk Group. She is also the owner and founder of an independent furniture brand, NURT.

In 2022, Maja Ganszyniec Studio was shortlisted for Dezeen Awards 2022 Emerging Design Studio of the Year.
