BIO

Minister of Science – Dariusz Wieczorek

Born on May 23, 1965, in Szczecin. A Polish politician and local government official.

A graduate of the Maria Skłodowska-Curie High School in Szczecin and the Electrical Faculty of the West Pomeranian University of Technology. He also completed postgraduate studies in tourism economy organization and management, as well as administrative and local government law.

From 1998 to 2001, he served as the vice president of Szczecin. He also held the position of councilor in the West Pomeranian Regional Assembly during the II, IV, and V terms. He was the president of the management board of Energetyka Szczecińska, a member of the management board of the joint-stock company Enea, and also the director of the branch of the company Enea Operator. Since 2019, he has been a member of the Polish Parliament (Sejm).

In the IX term of the Sejm, he was a member of the Maritime Economy and Inland Navigation Committee, the Committee on Energy, Climate, and State Assets, as well as the secretary of the Left Parliamentary Club. He is the vice-chairman of the New Left. On December 13, 2023, he was appointed Minister of Science.

He is married and has a son.
