Bogumiła Kaniewska
Prof. Bogumiła Kaniewska graduated in Polish Studies from the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań. She obtained her professorship based on the monograph “Narratives: On the prose of Wiesław Myśliwski”. In her research work, she is primarily focused on 20th-century literature, translation theory, and literature for children.
In 2012, she assumed the position of Dean of the Faculty of Polish and Classical Philology. In 2016, she was elected Vice-Rector for Student Affairs, and since 2020, she has been the Rector of UAM. She supervised – as part of the EPICUR consortium – the preparation of a proposal that resulted in UAM being awarded the status of a European University.
She initiated projects such as a psychological support program for students and the “Visible Hand of UAM” campaign. She actively participates in the project “When Science is a Woman”. She is also the chairperson of the Conference of Rectors of Polish Universities.
