Lotte Fast Carlsen is the Deputy Executive Director at Nordic Safe Cities and has been part of the founding team since its establishment in 2016 with the Nordic Council of Ministers.

Previous roles she has served as strategic advisor on social entrepreneurship and building public-private partnerships for handling critical societal issues.

Her expertise is on sustainable development, exemplified by her previous work in improving maternal healthcare in Ethiopia using mobile technology solutions.

In Nordic Safe Cities she works to drive change fostering new solutions and partnerships for more cohesive and democratic societies in the Nordic region of Europe.

She is responsible for the development of a number of digital prevention initiatives to create safer online spaces and shape digital prevention strategies. Here she advises local and national policymakers on fostering democratic online societies.

Her academic background includes degrees in philosophy, economics, and a master’s degree in international business and politics.
