Michal Nowakowski is a Legal Advisor with payments (FinTech) and banking expertise combined with international experience. His area of expertise is mainly financial regulations, in particular concerning banking (CRDIV), MiFIDII and Compliance) and emerging FinTech environment (PSD2) as well as EU Financial Law (doctoral studies in this area). He has experience in capital markets regulation, in particular market abuse (MADII/MAR), gathered during his employment at the Polish Financial Supervisory Authority (Criminal Law Division). He had worked also in Competition and Consumer Protection Division at Baker & McKenzie Law Firm.

Apart from drafting and analyzing financial regulations concerning financial sector and working on domestic and EU legislation, he had worked in the expert working groups at European Union level (EBA and Council). Michal Nowakowski has experience in corporate governance and negotiating commercial agreements. He has significant international experience gathered through internships in the International Monetary Fund (Summer 2016 cohort), European Systemic Risk Board (Jan-Jun 2015) and European Parliament (Winter 2012). His Ph.D. thesis “European Central Bank and Its Role During the Eurozone Crisis” was awarded with a distinction. He is the author of various publications relating to the financial stability issues, including macroprudential legal issues across the world. He was a speaker on various conferences and workshops. He is fluent in English and Polish.
