BIO

Grzegorz Wrochna is a professor of physical sciences. In 1986-1991 he worked at the Faculty of Physics at the University of Warsaw, collaborated with the DESY research centers in Hamburg and CERN in Geneva. In 1991-1998, at CERN, he participated in the design and construction of the CMS experiment at the LHC Large Hadron Collider, in particular in the design and testing of radiation-resistant electronics.

From 1999, he worked at the Institute for Nuclear Studies, from 2006 as director, previously as head of the Laboratory of Astrophysical Apparatus. He initiated the creation of the National Center for Nuclear Research in 2011 and its director until 2015. Department of Particle Astrophysics. He was a co-founder and chairman of the Polish Particle Astrophysics Network, represented Poland on EURATOM program committees, OECD Nuclear Energy Agency committees, and the Supervisory Board of the EU Joint Research Center (from 2019). In 2017-2018 he was the chairman of the Scientific Policy Committee. In the years 2019-2020 he was the Undersecretary of State in the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, where he supervised, inter alia, cooperation with the European Commission and ESA.
