Karolina Tkaczuk EngD serves as the Senior Director of Innovation and Academic Alliance at AstraZeneca. Before that, she worked at the Sano Center of Computational Medicine where as a Development Director she worked within business development, fundraising, communication, and branding. She was responsible for creating and maintaining relationships with both the scientific and industrial spheres, as well as for acquiring R&D projects as a part of commercial cooperation of the company. Before she joined Sano, she was the Director of Business Development at Ardigen, company specialised in the fields of AI, bioinformatics, and software engineering for the broadly understood life science. There, she was mainly responsible for European and US markets, but she also worked on early market verification R&D solutions created by Ardigen. Among various results of her work was the company’s creation of an AI platform for the analysis of medical images and the validation of the “AI for drug discovery” platform, created by Ardigen.

Karolina is a biotechnologist with a specialization in technical biochemistry. She obtained her PhD in structural bioinformatics focused on work on methyltransferases that may be involved in cancer formation. She also worked in the USA at the University of Virginia School of Medicine, Biophysics Department, where she worked experimentally on genomic projects and combined the area of structural bioinformatics with crystallography.
