Szymon Szynkowski vel Sęk
Minister for European Union Affairs (from 2022).
Secretary of State for European Policy, Polonia, Public and Cultural Diplomacy at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland (2018-2022). Government Plenipotentiary (2018-2019) for the Western Balkans Summit in Poznań. Government Plenipotentiary for the Polish Presidency of the Visegrad Group and the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the V4 (2020-2021).
Szymon Szynkowski vel Sęk was born in Poznań on 24 November 1982. He graduated from the Faculty of Law and Administration at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań with a degree in international relations. In 2003-2004, he was a Socrates Erasmus scholarship holder at Osnabrück University. From 2004 to 2015 he worked with Members of the European Parliament. Member of the Sejm since 2015, he sat on the Sejm committees for the European Union and Foreign Affairs and chaired the Polish-German Parliamentary Group. Founder and president (2012-2016) of a local think-tank – Project Poznań. From 2006 to 2015 he was a councillor of the City of Poznań. In 2015-2016 he was a delegate of Poznań to the Board of the Association of Polish Cities. He is the author of many press articles on European law and local government policy.
