BIO

Alicja Biała is an artist who works in a variety of techniques and scales.

Biała initially worked interventionistically in public space, and then made the politically engaged series Polish Cutouts. Since then, she has been working in different dimensions, from large-format painting – as in the MVRDV Concordia Design building in Wroclaw – installations, sculptures light sculptures, painting, etchings, illustrations and more. Her works contain a mix of pagan themes that bring together the political and personal spheres of of contemporary life. Biala’s works can be found in many private and national collections.

In Poznan, you can see the first Totems: sculptures that symbolize the relationship between humans and the forces of nature. Different proportions, colors and hand-painted patterns reflect the data statistics on the condition of the environment and global warming. During Impact’23, Biała will present both the project Totems, as well as a recent research project and installation about water contamination.
