Steven develops practical solutions combining aspects creating positive impacts on the city. Steven is convinced that there are more benefits to our environment within the links between innovative solutions than in the solutions themselves, bringing economies of scale, avoiding redundancies.

Close relationship with Michael Braungart and Douglas Mulhall led to the development of his companies Lateral Thinking Factory (supporting projects according to Circular Economy/Cradle to Cradle™ (c2c) principles with a multidisciplinary network of world experts) and BIGH (Building Integrated Greenhouses, developing and operating large Aquaponic farms within the urban context) are in the forefront of circular transition in buildings, food production and city living and implement financially viable solutions in energy, water & air quality, food, mobility, social aspects, health and well-being in general. His international cumulated (over 35 years) experience in Europe, China, Northern Africa and Ethiopia gives Steven an unconventional multifaceted approach to Circular Economy.

Steven was awarded international prizes for EXPO 98 HQ, Lisbon, Agora Building Council of Europe, Strasburg, Berlaymont European Commission HQ, Brussels, Greenpeace HQ Brussels. Belgian Building Award Pioneer 2019 prize for his career in Environment, Brussels citizen of the year 2020 for his Aquaponic venture BIGH.
