BIO

Patient Ombudsman, legal counsel, formerly director at the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Administration. He has also worked at the Prime Minister’s Office and the Office of the Financial Ombudsman. He has held the office of Patient Ombudsman since October 30, 2017.

As Patient Ombudsman, Bartlomiej Chmielowiec attaches great importance to supporting patients as much as possible, doing so also before civil courts – participating in hearings on the rights of a prosecutor. He also supports medical facilities by, among other things, issuing legal clarifications and educating on the implementation of patient rights. As of 2022, The Patient Ombudsman also operates the Immunization Compensation Fund, which provides a fast-track compensation pathway for people who have experienced adverse reactions to vaccinations.

Bartlomiej Chmielowiec is a graduate of the Faculty of Law and Administration at Maria Curie-Sklodowska University in Lublin. He also holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from the Faculty of Management at the University of Warsaw. He also completed postgraduate studies in accounting at the Faculty of Management and Information Technology at Oskar Lange University of Economics in Wroclaw. He is a legal advisor registered in the list of the District Chamber of Legal Advisors in Warsaw.

Bartłomiej Chmielowiec is also the author and co-author of numerous scientific and popular science publications in the field of civil, compensation and insurance law, including a comprehensive commentary on the provisions of the Act on Patients’ Rights and Patients’ Rights Spokesman.
