BIO

Prof. Dr. Bogdan Góralczyk, full professor at the UW European Center. Political scientist, sinologist, diplomat, publicist.

From 2003 to 2008, he was Polish ambassador to the Kingdom of Thailand, the Republic of the Philippines and the Union of Myanmar (formerly Burma). Earlier, in 1991-1998 he was on a diplomatic post in Hungary. He was also head of the Cabinet of the Minister of the Polish Armed Forces. Specialization: contemporary international relations, especially globalization and global challenges, China, East and Southeast Asia in the international arena, the international position of the EU and European integration, Hungarian issues.

He is the author of many book works, including the only biography of Sun Yat-sen in Poland, works on Thailand, Burma and many on Hungary and China. He recently published the volume „The Hungarian Trianon Syndrome” (2020), reissued the work „The Golden Land sheds tears. A Burmese Essay” (2010, new expanded edition 2021), and most notably published the unique China Triptych, which includes the titles: „China’s Phoenix. Paradoxes of a Rising Power” (2020, reissue 2022Bogdana Góralczyk), „The Great Renaissance. China’s Transformation and Its Consequences” (2018) and „The New Long March. China of the Xi Jinping Era” (2021, second expanded edition 2022). The last two volumes are currently being prepared for publication in an English-language version. He has lectured at many universities at home and abroad, and is very active and visible in the media and on YouTube.
