BIO

Anne Applebaum, a Pulitzer Prize-winning historian, journalist, and commentator on geopolitics, delves into the complexities of global political and economic shifts through the dual lenses of historical context and contemporary analysis.

Drawing from her deep expertise in European affairs and extensive experience in international reporting, Applebaum offers insights into the challenges and opportunities posed by today’s turbulent world events.

Her book „Twilight of Democracy: The Seductive Lure of Authoritarianism,” published by Penguin in July 2020, explores the profound ramifications of authoritarian tendencies in modern societies.

Currently serving as a Senior Fellow of International Affairs and Agora Fellow in Residence at the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies in Washington, DC, Applebaum has long been a prominent voice in global discourse.

She previously contributed a biweekly foreign affairs column to The Washington Post, which was syndicated internationally, and now serves as a staff writer at The Atlantic.
