BIO

Dr. Feichtinger assumed the position of Executive Director of the International Astronautical Federation (IAF) on January 1, 2012. Prior to joining the IAF, Feichtinger, who hails from Austria, spent three years as a senior advisor on exploration at the European Space Agency (ESA). Before that, he served as the Head of ESA’s permanent mission in the Russian Federation, following a decade of work as the Agency’s representative for human spaceflight and exploration in Moscow.

Feichtinger’s previous roles include serving as the flight operations support manager for the Euro-Russian EUROMIR-94 and 95 missions at the Russian mission control center near Moscow, as well as acting as a liaison officer to Russian organizations within the EUROMIR-94 and 95 mission management teams at the ESTEC technical center in the Netherlands. He also served as the technical manager of the Soviet-Austrian AUSTROMIR project and subsequent missions.

Feichtinger holds a PhD in space experimentation from Graz University of Technology, Austria.
