BIO

Vice President of the Council of Ministers, Minister of National Defense. A doctor, local government official, and politician. Member of the Polish Parliament (Sejm) in the VIII, IX, and X terms. Since 2015, the President of the Polish People’s Party. Born in 1981 in Krakow. A graduate of the II High School named after King Jan III Sobieski and the Faculty of Medicine at the Jagiellonian University’s Collegium Medicum, where he obtained a doctoral degree in medical sciences. He worked at the Clinic of Internal Medicine and Rural Medicine at the Jagiellonian University’s Collegium Medicum. He earned his doctoral degree in medical sciences in 2010. He conducted scientific research at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, USA.

From 2010 to 2011, he was a Councilor in the City of Krakow. He participated in the work of the Commission for Family and Social Policy, the Health Commission, Prevention, and the Commission for Property and Entrepreneurship.

Associated with the Polish People’s Party since 2000, he was also one of the co-founders of the Forum of Young People of the People’s Party. From 2008 to 2012, he served as the Secretary-General of the Executive Committee of the Polish People’s Party.

In November 2011, he was nominated by the Polish People’s Party as a candidate for the Minister of Labor and Social Policy in the second coalition government of Donald Tusk. On November 18, he was sworn in as Minister of Labor and Social Policy. On December 1, 2012, he became the Vice President of the Polish People’s Party.

On September 22, 2014, he again assumed the position of Minister of Labor and Social Policy in the government of Ewa Kopacz.

On November 7, 2015, the National Council of the Polish People’s Party appointed him as the President of the Polish People’s Party. He was also elected as the Chairman of the Parliamentary Club of the Polish People’s Party. He was re-elected as the President of the Polish People’s Party during the Congresses on November 19, 2016, and December 4, 2021.

From 2015 to 2023, he was the Chairman of the Parliamentary Club formed by the Polish People’s Party, and since 2016, he has been a Member of the National Security Council.

From 2012 to 2021, he was the Chairman of the Main Council of the National Association of Rural Sports Teams.

He is the grandson of Władysław, a soldier of the 13th Regiment of Vilnius Uhlans and the Peasant Battalions, and the son of Andrzej Kosiniak-Kamysz, Minister of Health in the government of Tadeusz Mazowiecki. His wife is Paulina, and they have two daughters, Zofia and Roza.

On December 12, 2023, he was elected by resolution of the Polish Parliament, and on December 13, he was appointed by the decision of the President of Poland to the position of Vice President of the Council of Ministers and Minister of National Defense.
