Piotr Borys
Member of the Sejm of the IX and X legislature.

From 2009-2014, he was a Member of the European Parliament. He served as Deputy Marshal of Lower Silesian Voivodeship from 2006-2009 and was a member of the voivodeship’s board from 2004-2005.

In 2001, he graduated from the Faculty of Law and Administration at the University of Wrocław.

From 1998-2002, he was a member of the city council in Lubin, also serving as a member of the city board.

He managed and led the Regional Development Agency „Arleg” SA in Legnica, and from 2005-2006 he held the position of CEO of the joint-stock company Aquapark Polkowice.

From 2003 to 2009, he held a mandate as a councilor of the Lower Silesian regional assembly. During this period, he was vice-chairman of the assembly, later appointed to the voivodeship board. After the local elections in 2006, he took the position of Deputy Marshal of the voivodeship, responsible in the region for sports and tourism among others. At that time, he served as President of the Lower Silesian Tourist Organization and a member of the Polish Tourist Organization Council in Warsaw.

He belonged to the Freedom Union and the Democratic Party. In 2006, he joined the Civic Platform party.

As a Civic Platform candidate in the 2009 elections in the Lower Silesian-Opole constituency, he secured a mandate as a Member of the European Parliament for the VII term. In the European Parliament, he was a member of the Legal Affairs Committee and the Culture and Education Committee, which also covered sports. He worked in the delegation for relations with Afghanistan and the delegation for relations with Central Asia.

From January to November 2015, he served as the chief advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs.

From 2016 to 2019, as Director, he managed the National Office of the Civic Platform in Poland.

In 2018, he returned to the Lower Silesian regional assembly. In the 2019 elections, representing the Civic Coalition, he obtained a mandate as a member of the IX legislature in the Legnica constituency, receiving 35,034 votes. In the 2023 elections, he successfully sought re-election, achieving 44,912 votes. In December 2023, he was appointed Secretary of State at the Ministry of Sports and Tourism.
