BIO

Aleksandra Gajewska, a native of Warsaw, mother of Aleks, local government activist, politician, and member of the 10th term of the Sejm.

Born and raised in Warsaw, she was educated and shaped by the values of the capital. Nearly ten years ago, she became the youngest councilor in the history of the city. As a councilor, she actively supported the fight for clean air, the creation of new places in nurseries and kindergartens, and the planning of road infrastructure and public transport expansion.

Her engagement and close contact with residents resulted in record-breaking support in the last local elections – nearly 33,000 people voted for her. She also co-created the successful election campaign of the current mayor of Warsaw, Rafał Trzaskowski, serving as his spokesperson.

The year 2019 was special for me both personally and professionally. In June, I became the mother of Aleksander, and just a week later, I was elected Vice-Chair of the Warsaw City Council. Also, in the fall of 2019, from the last place on the list, I was elected to the Sejm for the 9th term.

I want to use my extensive local government experience to make Poland modern, green, and friendly to its residents. Breaking the stereotype that politics is all about wearing a tie, she believes that an effective female politician can be young, courageous, and utilize innovative solutions.

At the Ministry of Family, Labor, and Social Policy, she is responsible for issues related to social integration, demographic policy, and family policy. She oversees matters related to family and parenting benefits. She coordinates tasks related to combating domestic violence. She prepares solutions in the area of demographic policy. She collaborates on matters related to equal treatment and anti-discrimination. She oversees the Department of Family Policy (DPR), Department of Social Integration (DIS), and Department of Demographic Policy (DPD).
