BIO

Ignacy Niemczycki, upon the recommendation of Minister Krzysztof Hetman, was appointed by Prime Minister Donald Tusk as the Deputy Secretary of State in the Ministry of Development and Technology.

Ignacy Niemczycki graduated in sociology from the School of Social Psychology and in political science from the School of Social Sciences (Lancaster University diploma). He holds a bachelor’s degree in business management from Bocconi University in Milan. He also completed postgraduate studies in agriculture at the Warsaw University of Life Sciences and in organic farming at the University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn. He is a scholarship recipient of the IVLP program of the U.S. State Department and the Landecker Democracy Fellowship.

During his studies, he founded the Free Belarus Initiative to support the fight for democracy in that country. He was a member of the Board of the Action Democracy Foundation and managed the Professor Bronisław Geremek Center Foundation. He established and coordinated the coalition of social organizations, the European Front.

From 2008 to 2012, he worked in government administration – including the Chancellery of the Prime Minister, the Committee for European Integration, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Representation to the EU in Brussels, where he participated in negotiations on EU funds for Poland. Between 2013 and 2015, Ignacy Niemczycki headed the European department at Polityka Insight. From 2015 to 2017, he was a manager for public affairs and acting director of international communications for a corporation. He runs an organic farm in Mazury.
